Everyone who owns a home in Annapolis must prioritize pest control. Pests can infiltrate homes throughout the year. They include mice, which are particularly difficult to handle. Mice nests are often made in home insulation and mice themselves can chew on household objects like wires. Also, mice carry different types of bacteria and viruses. And getting into contact with their urine and droppings can make you sick. Any Annapolis Mic and Rodent Exterminator will tell you that the best way to avoid a mouse infestation is to make your home unattractive to mice. Part of this is to learn what draws mice to your house.

    Warmth

Mice want to be warm even in summer. Even if the air conditioner in your house is on blast, mice can find warm spots in your house. Also, you may still discover mice in your house in late fall when the temperature begins to drop.

Mice love to build nests in water heaters as they give them a constant source of heat. Also, heaters are often located in places such as basement corners.

    Water

Your pet’s water bowl may attract pests including mice. To keep the water bowl away from sneaky mice, put it on a raised platform. Lifting it off the ground even a few inches can help control pests in your home.

    Food

As with other pests, mice enter your house for food. Mice are not picky in terms of what they eat. Also, they do not need lots of food or water to survive every day. They can feed on the mess on your kitchen floor or those spilled grains.

Keep in mind that mice do not need to live off your food. They can also feed on electrical wiring, cardboard, and paper.

    Clutter

While mice are associated with garbage, they can also be attracted to general clutter. Clutter can lead to different problems including pests. Mice love to live in a messy house. They can survive on clutter such as paper, clothing, blankets, and cardboard for a while. Also, they can use the clutter as their hiding and nesting spots.

    Openings

Mice usually get inside your house through cracks and small openings in walls. Also, they can enter underneath doors. Mice do not need big space to get into your home as they can squeeze through tight spaces.

After you know what draws mice to your house, you can more easily stop them. Use this knowledge to protect your house from these unwanted guests.
